[D-3] Let’s Celebrate Day of FAO!
Today (Aug 9) at Expo Hall, the Day of FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization) event was held. FAO is a specialized agency of the United Nations (UN). It is established in order to defeat hunger and to make sure all people have regular access to enough high-quality food to lead healthy lives. Thus, FAO works to raise levels of nutrition, improve agricultural productivity, and contribute to the growth of the world economy.
Moreover, “Expo 2012 Yeosu Korea – FAO International Symposium” is opening from Aug 8 to Aug 10 with a theme of “Alleviating Hunger & Poverty: Making a Difference with Fish”! At the Symposium, there will be many world-famous scholars including Arni M. Mathiesen who is an Assistant Director Genereal of FAO and Michael A. Crawford who is a professor of Imperial College in England. This Symposium is FREE to enter, so participate at Symposium and learn about how Ocean can be one of the solutions to stop global poverty.
To celebrate Day of FAO, there was a special concert called “Hope & Joy”. The performance team is called “I Solisti Roma”, and it will be performing to symbolize hope, joy and peace through various performances including opera, hymn, lied and more.
