[D-5] AUG 7 – LET’S MEET THE WORLD: Cote d’Ivoire
Ivory Coast, also called Cote d’Ivoire, is a country located in West Africa. It shares borders with Liberia, Guinea, Mali, Burkina Faso, and Ghana and has the populations of 20000000 people. The country was colonized by France but became independent in 1960. The official language is French, although many of the local languages are widely used. The mostly believed religions are Islam, Christianity, and Catholic. Economically, Ivory Coast was the leader among the western African Countries. However, in the 1980s, the country experienced an economic crisis, leading to country’s hardship. Now, its economy is largely based on agriculture with cash crops.
