[July 4] Let’s meet the world: USA

The United States of America, the USA, is a federal constitutional republic of 50 states and a federal district. This nation is located in central North America, lying between the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. The country is borderd by Mexico to the south and Canada to the north. Several territories in the Pacific and Caribbean and the state of Hawaii in an archipelago in the mid-Pacific are all included to the United States. As one of the world’s most culturally diverse countries, the U.S. is the third largest by its both population and land area.

July 4th is very special for the USA today. First of all, it is America’s Independence Day. Besides, July 4th is important date for this year 2012. Today is America’s National Day at Expo 2012 Yeosu Korea! To celebrate today, Dr. Jane Lubchenco, the head of America’s Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration, visited Yeosu Expo. Other 18 representatives including Mr. Sung Kim, Ambassador of the U.S. to Korea, and Ms. Wendy Cutler, Assistant USTR, came to Yeosu to congratulate.

<The 8th US Army Band>

The Krokodiloes from Harvard University and the Eighth US Army Band had successful stages in Korea. They presented impressive performances, which delighted today well. The Harvard Krokodiloes is Harvard University’s oldest a capella singing group, founded at the Hasty Pudding Clup in 1946. Twelve undergraduates in tuxedo sang jazz, swing and rock, and their stage was joyful. The 8th US Army Band’s performance in Korea was meaningful; because, their band’s name changed right after Korean War began to what it is today. The 8th US Army Band’s playing “Star Spangled Banner” was impressive.

Let’s enjoy the National Day of the USA with some photos!
