[July 1st] Let’s meet the world: Algeria
Algeria, officially the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria and formally called the Democratic and Popular-Republic of Algeria, is the largest nation in Africa. Located in the Maghreb region in Northwest Africa, this country is the largest among the countries that border the Mediterranean Sea as well. Algeria shares the border with Tunisia to the northeast, Libya to the east, Morocco to the west, Western Sahara to the southwest, Niger to the southeast, and the Mediterranean Seat to the north. The capital of Algeria is Algiers. The country is also a founding member of the Arab Maghreb Union
<Mr. Abdelaziz Ziari>
Today (July 1st), Algeria holds their National Day at Expo 2012 Yeosu Korea. For this important date, Mr. Abdelaziz Ziari, Former Speaker of the House, visited Yeosu to represent his country. Mr. Sahraoui Hocine, Algeria Ambassador in Seoul, and Mr. Bensalem Mohamed, Algerian Commissioner, also came to Yeosu to celebrate.
<Performance “NUBA SIKA”>
To congratulate today (July 1st), Algeria presented their own traditional cultural performance “NUBA SIKA”. The Algerian National Whole of Andalousienne gave impressive moments to the audience. NUBA SIKA, traditional music performance of Andalousienne, is known to be originated by a musician called Ziryâb from Persia. Modern NUBA has its origin in Andalousienne music, and it is combined with North African music. Algeria has 12 NUBA pieces in total today.
