[June 21] Local government’s day: Daejeon

Daejeon is Korea’s fifth largest city and the provincial capital of Chungcheongnam-do. It was upgraded to a megalopolis in 1995. You might be familiar with Daejeon because the city hosted the Taejeon Expo in 1993. Located in the mid-southern part of the Korean peninsula, Daejeon has a population of about 1.5 million and serves as a hub of transportation. This city is also the science and technology mecca of Korea thanks to a lot of research institutes including Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST).

To celebrate this important date, there were meaningful performances by Daejeon Metropolitan Dance Theater. They showed the wonderful dances and their stage was successful. These dances included Bara Chum, Yangban Chum, Jango Chum, Soljango-Chum, and so on. The performance could be defined as Korean classical dance combined with modernized sensibilities.

Enjoy their celebration stage with some photos!
