[June 18] Let’s meet the world: The Netherlands
<Night view of Amsterdam>
The Netherlands, the Kingdom of the Netherlands, is located in Northwestern Europe. This country borders the North Sea to the northeast, Belgium to the South and Germany to the east. The Netherlands is below the sea level; and, the country’s name literally means the ‘Low Country’. Interestingly, most of the areas below lower than sea level are man-made. The Hague is the center of Dutch government, while the capital city of Holland is Amsterdam.
Pavilion of the Netherlands hosts the National Day at Yeosu Expo today. The crown prince William Alexander is visiting Yeosu to celebrate today. The Prince of Orange will show off the close friendship between the Netherlands and Korea during his visit. Wouter Hamel is also having an awesome stage at 7:00 PM for his country. This Dutch singer-songwriter, who is well-loved in Korea, will touch the audience tonight.
The Dutch Pavilion invites the visitors from all over the world to “Join the Pipe” and become part of world’s first social water network. At the gift shop, you can get a special water bottle that looks like the pipe and support people who cannot access to fresh water. Jointhepipe.org is a humanitarian organization to build water wells for people in need and set up the world’s largest water pipe.
Let’s enjoy the Dutch culture and support a human movement!
