[June 1] Let’s meet the world: Guinea

What is this shinning like silver? The answer is bauxite which is an aluminum ore!

Guinea is the world’s 3rd richest country having this mineral!

Guinea, officially the Republic of Guinea is a country in West Africa. It meets the Atlantic Ocean on the west and shares the border with Senegal, Guinea-Bissau, Mali, Sierra Leone, Liberia, and Côte d’Ivoire. The nation is a predominantly Muslim country and is rich in minerals including diamond and gold. Its economy is largely dependent on agriculture and mineral production. French is their official language which is used at schools, government administration, and the media. The nation’s climate is generally hot and humid and has monsoonal-type rainy season from June to November and dry season from December to May. Like other countries in Africa, they are facing some environmental issues such as deforestation, desertification, inadequate supplies of potable water, etc.

On the first day of June, Guinea hosted National Day at Yeosu Expo. They directed their celebration stage with Baga Fote which is one of representative groups in Guinea. They have been loved with their amazing fusion of traditional West African instruments and rhythms with evocative lyrics expressing the sociopolitical personal concerns of young Guinean generation.
