1. The ocean, an alternative solution to the natural resources crisis
The ocean is a treasure house of biological, mineral, energy, and space resources.
The utilization of these abundant resources with advanced marine industrial technology is a near future solution to crises that threaten human survival on earth such as climate change and energy deprivation.
The pavilion aims to raise public awareness on the ways marine industrial technology enables environment-friendly use of ocean resources.
2. A new perspective on the seaweed industry
This pavilion places emphasis on cultivating seaweed-related industries with potential for diverse utilization.
Humans began to eat seaweed some 2,000 years ago and still get various nutrients from seaweed. Seaweed is not only a vital food, but also a source of energy, smart materials, and medicinal products.
This site highlights the magnificent transformation of seaweed into an essential material for plastic, textiles, bio-ethanol and automobile production, providing further evidence of the great potential of marine resources and technology.
