The Yeosu Project – Progress

The Yeosu Project is the practical element that translates the spirit of the Yeosu Declaration and the theme of Expo 2012 Yeosu Korea into action. The Yeosu Project is aimed at supporting developing countries in their efforts to cope with marine-related challenges.


Progress to date

  • To ensure smooth implementation of the Yeosu Project, the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) was commissioned as the project operator.
  • As part of the first-year project, 12 programs (7 R&D programs; 5 education and training programs) were launched in October 2010.
  • Pilot projects for the second and third years (2 billion won each) will be launched in collaboration with international organizations.
