[July 9] It’s OECD’s day today!

OECD, the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development, is an international economic organization of 34 countries. It was established to stimulate economy and trade worldwide in 1961. To promote policies and improve economic and social status of people all over the world, the organization hosts a forum of countries to share opinions and achieve common solutions. OECD’s work is based on its abundant information on a broad range of topic to support governments to prosper and solve poverty. Now OECD is 50 years old this year.

OECD celebrates their day today, July 9^th. For this important date, Yves Leterme, Deputy Secretary General of OECD, came to Yeosu with 5 other representatives. First of all, there was a signing ceremony on statement of intent by OECD and KMI (Korean Maritime Institute). The statement was to promote cooperation for ocean economy. After conclusion of a letter of intent, Mr. Dan Morrison, Head of Global Media, hosted the rest of event today. A book “Rebuilding Fisheries” was introduced in the event. The visitors then watched “Blue Economy”, which reflected the topic of Yeosu Expo. Also, Mr. Carl-Christian Schmidt, Head of Fisheries Policies Division, Trade and Agriculture Directorate at OECD gave a presentation, contributing to make today successful.
